Local Towns
Shrewsbury. For
those who want to do lots of shopping Shrewsbury is roughly 50
minutes from Cefn Einion. There are two park and ride stops.
One at Meole Brace and also Harlescott. These operate daily at
a ten minute interval so you have no parking problems. You can
get off right outside Marks and Spencer if you wish.
Shrewsbury has a museum and art gallery
and at the Castle there is the Shropshire Regimental Museum.
Added to this it is a town full of interesting buildings and
lots of little lanes to explore. The riverside park hosts the
annual flower show in the summer.
Ludlow
an interesting and historic market town. It was granted
a charter in the middle ages. The ruined castle dates back to
1090 situated at the northern side of the town. The castle is
open to the public but also has many craft and medieval fayres
and in the summer performances are held within the
castle walls. Walk up to the battlements of the keep and
look across at the wonderful panoramic views across the
River Teme to the hills in the distance. Ludlow
holds regular markets including a flea market on a
Sunday and a
regular monthly
farmers market. Ludlow is renowned for its restaurants but
there are many good pubs and cafes for the thirsty and hungry.
Not to be missed is the annual Food and Drink festival held in
September. Hidden among the buildings in the town center is
the 15th century church well worth a visit.
